The Golf Course - Hotel Nuevo Portil Golf Break
Nuevo Portil golf course was designed by Alfonso Vidaor and opened for play in 2001. A relatively flat course which only has gentle slopes meaning it is very walkable. The fairways are wide, the greens are forgiving and you will find many doglegs shaped by the natural pine forest that the golf course plays through. There are only 65 bunkers and one lake across the resort which spans over 46 acres and has beautiful views out towards the coastline. An 18 hole, par 71 parkland course that measures 6,388 yards from the back tees.
El Rompido South course opened in 2003 and runs alongside the impressive club house. The course is a Par 72 and around 6,763 yards off the yellow tees. This course is divided into two distinct 9 hole circuits in terms of landscape and characteristics. The course is surrounded by picturesque pine forests, wetlands and olive trees which require you to play quite accurate shots if you have any chance of playing to your handicap. The South course can be walked as it is reasonably flat and the combination of winter and tropical grass give the fairways a nice feel to play off.
El Rompido North course opened in 2006 and lets players combine power with precision. It is a Par 72 parkland course featuring a few lakes at around 6,705 yards off the yellow tees. The course layout makes you think about every shot and will reward accurate play. The course is pretty flat throughout and will enjoyed by players of all levels. The medium sized greens keep you entertained and are a joy to play.
La Moncailla golf course is a wonderful design by Jose Maria Olazabal which opened for play in 2011. The course works it way gently through a pine forest giving tree lined fairways, though the fairways are wide and easy to hit if you are able to avoid the strategically placed bunkers and several large lakes. When designing the course Olazabel took great care to blend the features beautifully in to the Mediterranean landscape providing some stunning views throughout the round. The greens are large with soft undulations and protected by numerous bunkers. An 18 hole par 72 course that can measure up to 7531 yards when played from the black tees. Though there are five sets of tees which can shorten the course to 5,302 yards.
