Recent Trip to Madeira Island

I recently visited the Island of Madeira and stayed at the 5* Casa Velha do Palheiro Hotel – which has Palheiro G.C. on-site.  The resort has fantastic gardens, a beautiful spa, an award winning gourmet restaurant and a halfway house offering soup, sandwiches and home-made cakes etc. The capital town of Funchal is only 10 minutes away and the resort offers shuttles to the old town – where there is a great choice of restaurants and bars.  If for your golf holiday you are looking for a lovely year round climate, beautiful surroundings and good food & wine, Madeira is the place for you:

Palheiro golf course is challenging and fun with some tremendous views over the ocean.  I walked the course but would probably recommend taking a buggy.

Golf Networking 

This is only applicable if you are a director, owner or partner in a business.

I recently joined the FORE Business Networking group – which is networking with a difference.  You have an initial meet & greet and then play golf with directors of companies.  They have 62 groups throughout the UK and my local group is Liverpool (playing at Childwall G.C.).  I am able to introduce new members to any of the groups throughout the UK where you will have a free pass for your first event.

If after the event you think it will be good for you there are various memberships you can choose, with the standard package being £45 a month plus VAT.  For this fee you will be able to attend the monthly networking event at your chosen course with a round of golf, coffee & bacon roll – PLUS a complimentary 4 ball to use at this course on a Monday to Friday for the following month.  If you chose choose a higher membership you can play at any of the 62 courses (rising to over a 100 in the next 12 months) throughout Britain.

Travel Insurance

Golf Tours International can now offer travel insurance for your golf holiday which includes golf equipment and cancellation of non-refundable tee times.  This is an important factor as many insurance companies don’t include the golf aspect in their policies.
