The Golf Courses - Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf Holidays
The South course at La Manga Golf Resort is a Robert Dean Putman original design that has played host to many professional events over the years, including the Spanish Open, PGA Championships and European Tour Qualifying School. The original course opened in 1971 and has seen some modifications over the years, first by Arnold Palmer in the early 1990s and touched up again in 2004. The many water hazards, tough bunker placements and a length of 7,100 yards from the back tees makes La Manga South course a challenging test of golf.
The North course at La Manga Golf Resort is an 18 hole par 71 parkland course measuring 6,294 yards. Though this course may be more suited to a higher handicap golfer than the other two courses there are plenty of obstacles to make this a challenging round of golf. The fairways are narrower and lined by palm trees, with natural gullies and bunkers being consistent throughout. The USGA specification greens are also bigger though that does not necessarily make them any easier to putt on.
The West course is the most difficult and demanding course to play at La Manga, matched only by the beauty and wonderful views you will encounter during your round. Tight fairways, severe changes in elevation and fast paced greens all add to the intrigue of this stunning golf course. The view from the tee of the 18th hole is a truly spectacular site offering distant views of the surrounding countryside. An 18 hole par 72 parkland course which opened in 1996 and designed by Dave Thomas measuring a modest 6,250 yards.
