The Golf Courses - Vila Gale Lagos Golf Break
Boavista is a championship golf course designed by Howard Swan in 2002 to blend in to the nature that surrounds it. A course that features pine trees, undulating fairways, stunning water hazards and great views towards the Monchique mountains to the north and the Atlantic ocean to the south which is visible on most of the holes. An 18 hole, par 71 parkland course that measures 6,744 yards from the black championship tees. The first 9 holes climb towards the highest point on the course, with panoramic views available on the 8th tee.
Palmares golf course is regarded as one of if not the best golf course in Potugal. Palmares consists of three loops of 9 holes; Alvor, Lagos and Praia. Each set of 9 holes is a par 36 layout that have their own set of features and traits. A Robert Trent Jones II design that has hosted several PGA Portugal Pro-Am series, PGA’s of Europe annual congress and the PGA Portugal National Championship. A simply stunning course that offers views of the Algarve coastline. Alvor is a par 36 parkland course that measures 3,688 yards with clever changes in elevation through stunning valleys. Lagos is also a par 36 parkland course that measures 3,432 yards and features the only two lakes throughout the resort. Praia is another par 36 though this time a links course that measures 3,306 yards.
Espiche golf course was designed by Peter Sauerman and only opened for play in 2012. Great care was taken to protect the local environment with a rich array of indigenous plant life that has been used to shape the layout of the course. You will only see wide sweeping views of the countryside and Monchique mountains with fairways lined by trees rather than residences. The local flora, water features, bunkers and large undulating greens means there is no shortage of obstacles during this enjoyable round. Espiche resides in a nature reserve and is built above an ancient aquifer. They take great care in sustainability using a unique blend of grass so that it requires one third less water than most courses. An 18 hole, par 72 parkland course that can measure up to 6,411 yards when played from the back tees.
