About the destination

The Manor House at Celtic Manor is situated within 2,000 acres of resplendent Welsh countryside in the breath taking Usk Valley. The Manor House Hotel is the original building at the resort that was constructed in 1860 and was initially named Coldra House. Going from exuberant country home to a maternity hospital and then tactfully converted in to a 17 bedroom hotel in 1980 by Sir Terry Matthews who was actually born in the very same maternity hospital. The hotel still contains many of the original features like wood panelled walls and a remarkable wooden staircase.

A three story extension was added in the 1990's to provide 65 bespoke guest rooms. Each room comes equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, tea & coffee facilities and a safe. There is a great Asian Restaurant called Pad, the Cellar Bar which is a popular sports bar and also the Manor Lounge. Guests can also make use of the Health Spa with swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, plunge pool, steam room, gym and a dance studio. You can also use the guest shuttles which will take you to all areas of the resort

Celtic Manor has three golf courses on-site, The Twenty Ten Course (venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup), The Roman Road & The Montgomerie. Caerleon Golf Club is also part of the Celtic Manor Golf Resort and is only a 5 minute drive away.

The Golf Courses - Manor House At Celtic Manor Golf Holidays

The Roman Road course was the original golf course available at the Celtic Manor Golf Hotel having opened in 1995 and being named after the old Roman Road which runs through the course, with great care taken to preserve the archaeological heritage. Having been designed by Rober Trent Jones Senior it is no wonder it has hosted numerous European Tour and Senior European Tour events. An 18 hole par 70 parkland course measuring 6,515 yards with great views overlooking the Severn Estuary and across to Devon and Somerset.

The Montgomerie course opened in July 2007 as a redesign by past Ryder Cup Captain Colin Montgomerie of the two now defunct courses of Coldra Woods and Wentwood Hills. An 18 hole par 69 parkland course with an inland links feel to it measuring 6,294 yards. With breathtaking downhill tee shots to be played looking out over the valleys of Wales attributing to the 3rd hole featuring 1001 Golf Holes You Must Play Before You Die book.

The Twenty Ten course is the new flagship design by Ross McMurray showcasing 9 newly built holes and a masterful remodelling of 9 holes of the previous Wentwood Hills course set in the Usk Valley. The course enjoys the prestige of being the only golf course to be specifically built to host the magnificent Ryder Cup and provide a challenge to the worlds greatest golfers. An 18 hole par 71 parkland golf course measuring 7,493 yards from the Championship Tee's with a links type feel at the beginning before opening up in the middle to reveal a plethora of lakes.
