Mar Menor’s original 9 holes were designed by Dave Thomas, a par 37 measuring 3,582 yards. Accurate shots are required off the tee to ensure you remain on the fairway. They provide a stark contrast to the later 9 holes by Jack Nicklaus, a par 35 measuring 3,147 yards. With wider fairways and clever design of the 13^th to 15^th holes surrounding a large lake. Playing this golf course allows you to experience two different designs to test your game, at the host of final of the Europro Tour 2011.

Saurines de la Torre golf course is designed similarly to the desert style golf courses of Las Vegas and Arizona. Where the undulating fairways are broken up by pockets of sand dunes during your approach to the green. Despite having sand dunes prominent throughout the course there are very few bunkers to get lost in. Though there is a large open lake which can become hazardous throughout quite a few of the holes. This par 72 golf course measuring 7,106 yards is able to provides a challenge to all golfers.

La Torre Golf is a course which has three lakes amidst its tranquil surroundings, with very few trees coming in to play on the course. This course is more known for wide sweeping bunkers to tame you in to taking care around the picturesque landscape which is known to become difficult if the wind picks up. La Torre is a relatively short golf course at 5,909 yards in length, for a par of 68. For those gifted at golf La Torre provides a fearsome challenge from the back tees requiring great precision to stay on the fairway.

El Valle Golf takes full advantage of its desert based surrounding landscape to use the protruding rock formations to add a touch of difficulty and a sense of flow around the course. Situated in a beautiful valley desert, which helps lend contours to the land, and the need for precision all the way up to the greens, which have pockets of bunkers to trouble your approach. This neat test of golf is a par 71 golf course which measures 6,764 yards.

Hacienda Riquelme golf course was designed to be of a championship standard and has recently hosted the European Tour School Stage 2 in 2010 and 2011. This 18 hole par 72 golf course measures 6,951 yards in length is one of the newer additions to the Nicklaus Tour. Hacienda Riquelme provides a good test of golf with plenty of natural hazards around the wide fairways that blend their way in to the beauty of the area. Careful attention will need to be paid to the position of the flag with many greens featuring tiers which will put your approach play to the test.

Alhama Signature is the flagship course on the Nicklaus tour having been designed personally by Jack Nicklaus. Great care has been taken to marry the beauty of the natural surroundings with the technical nature of the course. The lay of the land and the amount of native wildlife to the area give Alhama the title of a nature reserve. The wide fairways, fast greens and challenging bunkers make Alhama a firm favourite with low handicapped golfers. It is a par 72 golf course which measures 7,528 yards from the back tees.

Hacienda del Alamo is a relatively new course to the area having only opened for play in 2004. A Dave Thomas design that takes advantage of the natural surrounding wasteland to shape the course in to a challenging yet pleasant round of golf. Accuracy from the tee is paramount in order to avoid the bordering wasteland, making the crisp green fairways really stand out and give an appealing contrast for the eyes. You can expect to find a gentle undulating terrain flowing though the original orchards with some water features and several well placed bunkers. An 18 hole, par 72 golf course which measures 7,353 yards from the back tees.
